Highlights: Rowan spent far too long as a research scientist and now knows way too much about exercise physiology, supplementation and human performance. Lucky for us he channeled his nerdiness to found Blonyx… keeping him out of trouble.
For fun: Snowboards and mountain bikes the most extreme terrain imaginable (according to him), plays football (soccer to you), trains at CrossFit 604 in Vancouver, BC.
Known for: Being a British chap, being the same height as Josh Bridges (-1 inch).
Highlights: Graeme shifted from being a Marketing and Entrepreneurship graduate to co-founding CrossFit Queenstown in New Zealand. He holds a number of CrossFit certs and is on the CrossFit Weightlifting seminar staff. Currently Graeme is a head coach at CrossFit North Vancouver when he’s not plotting his next sales move.
For fun: Exploring the mountains, playing with hatchets, camping, coaching lacrosse and driving his gold 2000 AWD Honda CRV.
Known for: Being prepared... always: Graeme even took a head torch to the CrossFit Games "just in case".
Highlights: Ben is the owner and head coach at Border City CrossFit in Carlisle, UK. He is one of the most networked dudes in UK CrossFit and he will have judged you in competition at least once.
For fun: Punishes himself with crazy long distance rowing missions, teaches part time and hangs out with “Bear” his baby son (and unofficial Blonyx mascot).
Known for: Trash talking the rest of the sales team, yet not being a betting man.
Highlights: Zuki joined the Blonyx team after escaping the London top tier advertising world. Looking for a "less work and more play” lifestyle here in Vancouver, Zuki still hasn’t realized the mistake he has made - he still has a lot of work to do on his clean and jerk.
For fun: Injecting creative and strategic flair into Blonyx marketing campaigns while speeding around Vancouver on his single speed - trying not to come off it (largely unsuccessfully).
Known for: Wearing his jacket and scarf all the time (we think he’s cold blooded) and winning the University of Birmingham’s Advanced Employability Award - (we have no idea what this actually is, but he won it).
Highlights: Laura, or "Murph" as she’s commonly known, is a Newfie (Newfoundlander) who transplanted to Canada’s west coast to the escape long, cold winters. She joined CrossFit three years ago and immediately feel in love with it, so much so she is the (un)official chair of the social committee at Raincity Athletics (CF Pacific Central). Laura recently took the leap out of the stuffy tech industry to joint the exciting team at Blonyx.
For fun: Anything to do with beaches and travel. Summer is the only season that matters to her (she was clearly born on the wrong kind of island).
Known for: Her infectious smile, her love for warm places and her pup, Oscar.
Highlights: Tyler started doing CrossFit to train for Lacrosse, but quickly fell in love with the sport and community. During his final semester at BCIT, the opportunity came up to do an internship at a local company that marketed towards CrossFitters, it was a no-brainer and he’s been here ever since. Before CrossFit, Tyler ran competitive track which earned him the nickname "Track Star" at his box (but you wouldn’t know that if you saw him run now).
For fun: Having lived in BC his whole life, Tyler tries to keep up with the Canadian stereotype by playing lacrosse and hockey on the weekends, hiking the grouse grind, running the seawall and apologizing to everyone that bumps into him.
Known for: Testing out the nine craft breweries in the East Vancouver neighbourhood near the Blonyx HQ (3 down, 6 to go!) and reaching the Blonyx from the top shelf of the warehouse.
Highlights: Armed with a degree in computer science, and a strong background in operations management, Anca has a remarkable ability to keep ANYTHING organised and running smoothly. Before joining the Blonyx team she was head of IT for the City Hall of Baia Mare in Romania, but knowing Anca, she probably ran the place.
Responsibilities: Anca manages all aspects of operations including manufacturing and warehousing to web programming, wholesale and customer services… and she does this all from her office in Romania.
For fun: Being an awesomely busy mom of two young children and traveling around Europe while working.
Known for: Always being one step ahead of everyone else, keeping everyone in line - you don’t mess with Anca.
Highlights: Based in St Louis, you'll find the Paps coaching at CrossFit Metro East, training one of his personal training clients (his waiting list is full, before you even GO there) or simply weightlifting at your gym - the guy loves to get on the road.
For fun: Weightlifting competitions in between hanging out with his fiancé and young daughter.
Known for: Having the best beard this side of the Mississippi.
Highlights: Tasia is an elite level CrossFit athlete based out of CrossFit Free in Salem, NH where she is known for owning just about every online qualifier… ever. Tasia has a degree in Biology from the University of New Hampshire and a Masters in almost qualifying for the CrossFit Games (she’ll be there next year).
For fun: Tasia enjoys escaping into a dreamworld of spells and quidditch (She’s a massive Harry Potter fan). That’s of course when she isn’t scaring the crap out of NE CrossFit Regional competitors by posting outrageous PR videos and dominating any local (or not local) competition.
Known for: Always smiling AND making a habit of routinely beating Blonyx Sponsored CrossFit Games Athletes on the competitive circuit.
Highlights: Sean is an elite level weightlifting coach and an active member of the Irish weightlifting team having qualified for the World Championships in 2015. In September of 2015 Sean realized he had outlifted everyone in his country and relocated to Atlanta, GA where he now runs HD Barbell Club out of HD CrossFit. He also competes on the Outlaw Weightlifting team.
For fun: For fun Sean enjoys picking up weights, putting them over his head, and then putting them back down… while wearing colorful shorts.
Known for: Sean is a competitive lad with a cheeky smile and a fun loving attitude to match. He spends most of his time critiquing the Blonyx team's lacking weightlifting technique and dropping knowledge bombs. Did Sean make his targets this month? Who cares he can snatch twice your bodyweight.
Highlights: Adam played a solid one year of collegiate basket (JV but it still counts) that set him on the pursuit of health and fitness. He's a certified personal trainer and health coach but prefers spending his time nerding out over nutrition and recovery. He prefers competing in Olympic Weightlifting because CrossFit makes him tired and sweat too much.
For fun: Adam loves shooting guns and bows, mudding, weightlifting, skateboarding and snowboarding, or anything else exciting and manly. He also loves getting into "don't tell mom" moments with his two kids.
Known for: Driving big Ford trucks, wearing a smile, and always having a strong, empassioned opinion.
Highlights: Albert is originally from California and has yoyo'd between America and Spain all his life. He can now be found running and coaching at CrossFit G2 in Alcala De Henares Spain. Once he found CrossFit there was no looking back!
For fun: He played football (soccer) in college as well as in the lower divisions in Spain before transitioning to track and field. Albert competed at a national level in Spain in the 100 and 200 meter disciplines with multiple national championship appearances.
Known for: Albert loves Food, surfing, food, rock concerts, food, travel, getting lost in remote places, food, visiting family, eating his families food from right under their noses, and is known to be so laid back that even California was to hectic for him. Also, he loves food.
Highlights: Erica grew up in Melbourne, Australia but moved to Canada over ten years ago - which is the reason for her slightly confused accent: “G’day-eh?”. Having been an athlete and trainer since the age of 4 (or so we assume), Erica opened her own garage gym in Vernon in 2012. Erica breathes fire on the competitive circuit having stood on the podium at the 2013 Canada West Regionals and trained alongside a list of celeb athletes.
For fun: Playing too much Settlers of Catan and chasing after her dog Lola the Whoodle
Known for: Being the mother of Canada West CrossFit and having craaaaazy nails!
Highlights: Davide has been a Strength and Conditioning coach since 1999 and actively involved in all aspects of fitness. He discovered CrossFit in 2008 and founded CrossFit M1 in Italy in 2010. He has competed at the Regionals Level in 2012 and has coached multiple athletes the Regionals and The Games between 2011 and 2015. He is also a Black Belt in Brazilian Jiui-Juitsu.
For fun: Davide loves what he does and spends his free time competing in and teaching Jiu Jitsu.
Known for: Davide is know as the “Godfather” of CrossFit in Italy. His sales approach is essential phoning gym owners, telling them who he is and then instructing them to start using Blonyx immediately.
Highlights: Lauren’s first success in sport was as an NCAA Nordic Skier at Michigan Tech University. After finishing her NCAA career she moved south to Texas and quickly discovered CrossFit. In the past 5 years she has lived in South Carolina, Texas, Oklahoma and Minnesota. She currently coaches and trains just outside of Oklahoma City.
For fun: Lauren enjoys hanging out on her Catio (Cat Patio), drinking craft beer, programming thrusters at her gym and making her cats internet celebrities via Instagram (@lauren.rantala.stone)
Known for: Always smiling, often accompanied by 1-3 cats at any one time, Blonyx lover for life.
Highlights: With an MBA in financial management from Romanian American University, Corina comes with years of experience managing company finances. She puts this to practice for Blonyx from her home in Abu Dhabi, where she also drives a Lamborghini… or so we think.
For fun: Running... to the wine store, and making wagers with the rest of the Blonyx team.
Known for: Telling the rest of the team off for spending too much money.
Highlights: Alexis is known affectionately throughout Blonyx as Chief Engineer Scotty from Star Trek. He works out of Blonyx Romania’s office and keeps the engines (IT infrastructure, web sites, web apps, and coding requirements) running smoothly. Whenever one of the team request the impossible it seems that Alexis can make it happen. A true miracle worker.
For fun: When not reading stories to his two daughters, Alexis can be found building a new app that has the potential to revolutionize society as we know it… for fun. He also runs a company called InterCoder …or perhaps it's Skynet?
Known for: Having a Greek name but not being Greek… even when we try and speak Greek to him. Weird.
Highlights: Anna is possibly the most internationally seasoned of the Blonyx team - which as you can see is quite the achievement. Hailing from Urgench in Uzbekistan she lives in Barcelona where she constructs mind-blowing design after design from her studio. Anna is the pencil behind the look of Blonyx - from the web site you visit to the Blonyx shirt on your back.
For fun: Anna spends most of the time boasting to the rest of the team about her time spent on the beaches in Barcelona. She also dabbles in illustration and painting in her spare time. Check out her stuff here.
Known for: Being able to speak better Russian and English than Spanish, yet she lives in Spain.
Highlights: A previous NCAA baller, Emily is the CrossFit Games veteran of the Blonyx team having qualified three times (2011 and 2012 with CrossFit Vancouver’s team and 2014 as an individual). She devotes her time to writing for the CrossFit Journal (she has a Master’s Degree in journalism at the University of Western Ontario) and coaching at CrossFit Vancouver - the first CrossFit affiliate outside of the USA.
For fun: Doing naked Fran on the beach.
Known for: Being a badass rower, qualifying for the CrossFit Games while wearing TOMS (the shoes).
