We're often taught about aerobic and anaerobic energy systems independently, but did you know they are actually one big system?
Think about it. You run a 100m sprint, and you can pretty much hold your breath... 10 seconds after finishing and you're out of breath.
This is your aerobic system kicking in to replenish your anaerobic system, and it's key to quick recovery.
So regardless of your athletic ambition - if it's to run an iron man, or be a better rugby player, you'll benefit from training all your energy systems.
I think the best way to do this is to incorporate interval training into your training. It's fun, challenging and efficient on time.
Here are a series of basic interval training workouts for you to start off with.
